Discover Bulgaria

Bulgaria is one of the hidden gem of South-eastern Europe with its rivers, mountains, Black sea sandy beaches. Not only because of the locals hospitality, but because of the diverse landscape and natural treasures. Visit the old town of the ancient city of Plovdiv, ski all-season round ancient town-resort of Bansko with its scenic National Revival Architecture and mineral water, Koprivstiza, Veliko Tarnovo, beautiful shoreline, wine country of Melnik and many more. Do not worry at all visiting this scenic country and ignore the bias, full with old-time "cold war" time prejudice and press of some journalists. It's much cheaper than many other European countries and you have authentic Mediterranean style food, increadable folk and singing artistry. We just fall in love with this 1,300 years old history beautiful country and people.

Amen! Visited Bulgaria for 10 days in 1987; visited Sofia, Plovdiv, Assenovad, Sandanski (in the south), Rila, Veliko Tarnovo, Drouzhba, Varna. Everything you've said, and more...including fresh fruit and the chopska salad! And the road system, then, was better than Ireland's was in 2000 (though I understand that the Emerald Isle improved its infrastructure when it joined the European union.
