I have a meeting in Lugano,Italy in late May. We want to go somewhere for 7-10 days afterwards to relax. We have already seen much of Italy but not the lakes country [worth a day or 2?]. Mostly would llike a suggestion of a destination place in Greece or Turkey where we would "hang out" and do day trips but no long travel. In the past we have really enjoyed the Amalfi Coast and Sardinia in Italy [different trips]. Weather in Greece looks appealing [90 high;70 low]. Is Athens worth a day or 2? Altogether looking for a quiet and interesting destination. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
Bellagio/Lake Como in Italy is definitely worth a day or two. Athens: 2 days max. You might look at Nafplion in Greece. It's an easy drive from Athens and is quiet though full of interesting shops and places to eat. It's also a good base for side trips to the numerous interesting places in the Peloponnese. We stayed there a couple years ago and had a great time. It's right on the water, too.
