Can anyone recommend a guidebook that gives a good, detailed walking tour of the island of Delos?
It's my understanding that you must go with a guide, so your tour would already be taken care of. I don't think people are allowed to go there on their own.
Hi Judy You don't have to go to Delos with a guide and unfortunately I can't remember if there are guides waiting for people as they disembark from the boat, but I would be surprised if there aren't guides who meet each boat. You may be able to pick up a guide book at the museum on Delos.
I have found that the Blue Guide Greece: The Aegean Islands does a great job of explaining archeological sites. Perhaps a self-guided tour with this book would work.
Take a long at Lonely Planet: Greek Islands. I'll be in Mykonos in a few weeks and I remember reading a fairly good bit about the island in this book.
