Decision between Filotera or Finari hotels in Oia santorini

Can anyone help out here? Am going to book at one of these hotels. Looking for private balcony, clean and comfortable rooms and in short walking distance of Oia. I know steps are a way of life in Oia, but the hotel that has the least number of steps gets the booking.

It may not be the hotel that has the most steps but the room you choose. The rooms are stacked on top of each other, which means some will be further down the cliff than others. For these two hotels I think it'll be about the same no matter which one you choose, so if you want a sunset view as well as a partially blocked caldera view go with Fanari. If you want a caldera view and don't care about the sunset view go with Filotera since you can't see the sunset from there. Filotera is closer to the main square by about 5-10 minutes' walk.

Thanks, Lee. Also, for understanding I was writing about Fanari Villas not Finari. I know you are right about the stepsjust wishing! We're doing a 25 day Turkey and Greece trip and finding a hotel in Oia has been the hardest of our scheduled trip. One of the other reasons I was asking about Fanari vs Filotera is that it will cost $300 USA dollars more to stay at Fanari! A lot of money for newly retired folks. Also I don't find many reviews about Filotera except that Rick Steves recommended it. Any other thoughts?

You won't be disappointed with either one. Check your TA messages. If it were me I'd go with Filotera and spend the extra cash on something fun, maybe a champagne/sunset cruise!
