We will be in Cesky Krumlov this upcoming September and we are trying to decide on what day trips we would like to do. One thing I was considering was a trip to Halstad, Austria. I believe you can take a shuttle to Linz and then do a train from there. Is Halstad a good option?
Another one I was considering was taking the bus to Linz and then possibly taking a boat down the Danube to Melk. I haven't confirmed yet that I can take a boat from Linz to Melk but it seems like it would possible. Are these good options or are there other day trips that would be more logical and fun.
Hallstatt and Melk are too far from Cesky Krumlov to enjoy them on a day trip. I would either go to Hallstatt or Melk and stay overnight there or opt for another closer destination like Ceske Budejovice, chateau Hluboka or Holasovice. C.B. is only about 30 km from C.K. Easy connection by train or bus. Walk large beautiful square and picturesque streets around. If you are into beer you can visit brewery where they brew original Budweiser beer. German name for Ceske Budejovice is Budweis. Very close to C.B.is chateau Hluboka certainly worth visiting. Holasovice is picturesque village with preserved south bohemian architecture. It's on UNESCO heritage list. Also close to C.B.
