Day Trip Ideas from Cesky Krumlov

Does anyone have an idea for a short day trip from CK? Is Cesky Budejovice or Trebon worth the effort or should I just relax and "soak up" Cesky Krumlov. I will be arriving in CK at 14:30. We will be in town for that day and the whole next day.
Thanks, Dave

Yes, it is worth it. You can read about Trebon in Rick Steves: Prague and the Czech Republic. Ceske Budejovice is a bigger city with a nice main square and medieval streets around. German name for C.B.is Budweis and there is a real Budweiser brewery there which you can visit. Go to the beerhall Masne Kramy and order Budweiser. What you get will be the real thing. Nearby C.B. is chateau Hluboka also worth visit. Have fun.

My advice is more is not better. Europe has a different rhythem than the USA. You'll find that everything moves at a lot slower place than here. English tours of the castle are only at certain times with a minimum group of 8 people. There are plenty of other things to see other than the castle itself. Take your time looking around in Cesky Krumlov, have long, relaxing meals - with pivo of course. Some of my most enjoyable memories are of taking the time to talk to the locals. You can get some good information from pension owners, waitresses, and bar staff.
If you do find yourself completely bored then would be Hluboka.
