Is anyone on the Istanbul in 7 Days tour 9/6-9/12/09 interested in a day trip to Ephesus? ETB travel referred me to TripAdvisor where Ekol Travel had good reviews. Price decreases as # of participants increase. Int in travel on 9/12 (would miss good-by breakfast), 9/13, or 9/14. Let me know.

Don't know if this would work for you but here's another option:
Check out one of the airlines that flies to Izmir (Onur Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, or AtlasJet.) Fly to Izmir, take a cab to Selcuk, and spend one night at Hotel Bella. They will provide transportation to and from Ephesus, a guidebook that you can use to help you plan your visit, and a recommendation for a guide. You can eat dinner there, enjoy the beautiful setting and fly back to Istanbul the next day. They make it very easy!

Margaret, let me strongly second Sharon's suggestion. You'll save money and have a much more enjoyable experience. If you take an organized tour from Istanbul, you'll hit Ephesus at the height of the daily tourist peak. If, on the other hand, you go to Selcuk, you can arrive early or go late--it makes a big difference in your experience at Ephesus. Not to mention that Hotel Bella is one of my all-time favorite places to stay--great food, a terrific view from the common room, and an awesome staff.
