Day tours from Athens

My wife and I will be in Athens for several days at the end of Sept. Can anyone recommend some day or half day tours they have taken? We want to return to our hotel in Athens after a tour. Tips? Things to avoid?

Conisder an excursion to Sounion Bay to see the Temple of Poseidon. And if I'm not mistaken you can also take a daytrip to see the canal at Corinth.

Den A good time of year to be in Athens. Not so hot and slightly less crowded. Chat Tours and Go Tours are the two main tour companies. They both do one day tours to Delphi and a one day tour of the Peloponnese taking in Mycenae and Epidavrus, and crossing the Corinth Canal. http://www.chatours.gr/ http://www.gotours.com.gr/ If I just had a day to spare I would probably do a Delphi tour, as it goes into the mountains, but the Peloponnese sites are also really interesting. My tip for these is to book them without lunch and to take sandwiches. The lunch is generally mediocre and takes time that is better spent looking around. If you aren't doing any other islands I would recommend a day trip to Aegina. This is easily done on your own from Athens with a metro trip to Piraeus and then a flying dolphin to Aegina. The metro takes around twenty minutes, depending exactly where you are staying in Athens, and the dolphin around 40 minutes. Have a good trip Alan
