Czech Republic - Medical Insurance

Hello,

I will be visiting Prague in October for 5 days. I read on travel.state.gov that travelers to the Czech Republic are required to have proof of medical insurance. I don't have medical insurance (can't afford the monthly premiums) but will definitely purchase travel medical insurance for this trip. I'm curious to know if travelers to this country have had to actually show proof of medical insurance and if anyone can suggest reliable companies I can purchase insurance from.

And yeah, I'm so excited to visit Prague! It took a long time for me to save up, and I was able to save enough to take Mom with me!

This is one of those laws which is on the books but not enforced. I was there maybe twenty times and never ever was asked for proof of insurance. Neither I heard about anybody else. Nevertheless I recommend it. I usually use Travelguard. It also insures your ticket if you have to cancel for valid reason, interruption of trip, luggage etc.

It is enforced for people entering the country on a work or student visa, but not for the typical tourist.
