Travelling to Turkey soon from Canada. Do hotels and budget accommodation require payment in euros or will they take Turkish lira? Also, why do Canadians pay thre times as much for a visa than anyone else? (no wisecracks!)

When we were in Turkey in July, we found that hotels will take Turkish lira even if they've quoted a price in Euros.
As for the varying visa price, I don't know the answer but it's a hot topic among the tourists waiting in the visa line! That and why the Italians don't need a visa! Be sure to bring American dollars to pay for your visa and have exact change to make your transaction quicker.
