Hi all.....We are going on a cruise March 8th and will be hitting Rhodes/Lindos.....Pireaus/Athens and Katakolon/Olympia. We will only have 8 hours at each port. We are particularly interested in history and architecture and have never been to Greece.
Can anyone offer suggestions for "mini" itineraries for these destinations?
Rhodes is a great town. Personally, we spent the whole day in the old city, seeing the Palace of the Grand Masters, the Archaeology Museum, and wandering around the old buildings. We did venture into the new section and had ice cream. It was actually a very enjoyable, relaxing day. In Katakalon, I rented a car and drove to Olympia. I think it took 20 minutes or so. There are guides at the gates to hire, but we just had a book with us and went around the site on our own. PM me if you would like more specific details.
