croatian visa

Hi -- Does anybody know if you can get visas at the border ? If yes, is this advisable ? We are planning to visit slovenia this fall and we are thinking of making a day trip to Zagreb/Rovinj, maybe stay for a night if necessary. I think it's too much work to spend a day drving to LA to personally apply for a Croatian visa when we can do it over there.

Thanks.

Not sure since you don't mention what passport you are traveling on.

If US, no visa is required. The border folks may or may not stamp your passport depending on which border you cross and your mode of transportation.

We have Philippine passports so we need a visa to get to Croatia. We will need a Schengen visa too for Slovenia but that is fine since we are planning to visit (mostly) Italy and they have an embassy/office here in Salt Lake so it's not too much hassle.

Forgot to mention that we will have a rental car while in Slovenia.

In this case you should check out the Croatian embassy in the US (assuming you live in Salt Lake) to see what the requirements are for Philippine passport holders - whether you can get a visa at the border or if you need to get it from the embassy ahead of time.

Sorry, I don't know if Croatia is now part of the Schegen area or not - if so, ignore what I just wrote.
