We are looking at apartments for a week on either Sumartin on the island of Brac or Ciovo island near Trogir for a week in late July. We like to hike and explore and just relax in a beautiful not too busy spot with some restaurants nearby. We will have a car and would want to visit some of the neighboring islands. Does anyone have any experience with these two places who could help us make the choice? Thanks

I can only speak for Brac, as I took a ferry there from Split and stayed there for 3 days. It was super relaxing with a very well-known, touristy but gorgeous beach called Bol (very soft sand compared to the more rocky beaches elsewhere). I took a regular bus around the island and it was a lot of fun to check out the different villages. I really enjoyed myself - it was beautiful and laid back (pine forests, super clear water, etc) Trogir proper is a must but I'm unfamiliar with Ciovo Island.
