Croatia/Slovenia itinerary

Hello, My wife and I are going to Croatia for 2 weeks at the end of August/beginning of Sept. I would love some critique of our itinerary. Fly into Dubrovnik - 3 nights Island hop ( please help with which islands to go to)- 4 nights rent car in Split drive to Zadar , stopping at Trogir and Krka park along the way. Zadar- 1 night Zadar to Plitvice to Rovinj Rovinj -3 nights with side trip to Istria Rovinj to Bled Bled - 1-2 night Ljubjana - 1 night
Fly out of Ljubjana I have been to all of the above places before but my wife has not and I want to show her as much as possible. Thanks for any help!

Yep, agree. In May we did short stops in both Zadar and Sibenik. Although both were worthwhile, we were much more impressed with Sibenik and enjoyed it more. If time was tight, I'd drop Zadar (even though it has such an exotic-sounding name, I enjoyed saying it). Islands? We spend some time on: Rab: loved it. I bet it gets very busy in the summer and I probably would like it a bit less if it was jammed with crowds. In May it was enchanting - one of my favorite places. Hvar: Meh. Seemed pretentious, over-priced and a bit full of itself. Nice enough fortress to climb up to, but I was underwhelmed by the town. Half a day there was more than enough, I could have skipped it altogether.
Korcula: Loved it. Much more enjoyable than Hvar. We also liked Trogir quite a lot. In fact, we liked it more than Split. You're not planning to drop the car in Slovenia, are you? If so, expect a nasty drop-off fee. You could drop car #1 in Rovinj, take a small bus across the border to Portoroz, Slovenia, and rent another car there for Slovenia (we did the same, but going in the other direction). Worked out great for us (check bus schedule carefully, in May, that bus only went 2x/week, so timing can be critical). Otherwise, your itinerary looks OK to me - I'm sure you'll have a great time. Hope that helps.
