Croatia/Slovenia Honeymoon

Hello all! I will be leaving on Sunday for a 2 week honeymoon in Slovenia and Croatia. We will visit Lake Bled, Ljubljana, Plitvice, Hvar, and Dubrovnik. Our itinerary is set but I would love to hear about any great restaurants, bars, or even museums or sites that you have especially enjoyed in any of these areas. Thanks!

In Dubrovnik, go to the hole in the wall bar (Buza) for sunset. Great views out over the water. I also really liked a vegetarian restaurant in Dubrovnik called Nishta. I'm not vegetarian, but they had really creative and interesting dishes.

Hi Kris! Lake Bled is very romantic. You will love it. have a romantic dinner on the lakefront at Vila Preseren, or high above the lake at Bled Castle. Magic. Take a gondola to the island and be carried up the steps (tradition). Take a horse carriage ride around the lake. Its all good :) In Ljubljana, again the castle has a great restaurant. Another great option for drinks is the Neboticnik Skyscraper, great views of the city at dusk. Let us know if you need more info and congratulations!

Plitvice Lakes was a great moment, and you are going there. Great. In Zagreb, the Rick Steves Croatia show mentioned a really interesting art gallery that we missed. May want to look in the croatia book. The market in Zagreb is good - outdoors. We spent 2 days in Split, which is very Mediterranean. There were many nice restaurants there. The coast highway is very picturesque. We ReALLY enjoyed Ljubljana. Small, intimate totally wack. There is a bar with dressed up skeletons. We stayed at Hostel Celica - zany.

What Greg said! The pletna boats will be very romantic, and you should have a famous Slovenian cream cake in Bled! (then work it off walking up the church steps!) Congratulations!

in Dubrovnik, definitely take the boat out to Lokrum Island. Very beautiful and a great way to get away from the crowds of Old Town. You can definitely spend a whole day there, there's a little cafe with live music, a museum/15th cent. monastery, peacocks, caves, and rocky beaches that are fun to explore. Be careful, though, the rocks are slippery!
