Croatia (Dalmatian Coast) - FOOD & WINE RECOMMENDATIONS?

Hello Fellow Travelers,
My husband and I will be spending 10 days on the coast between Dubrovnik and Split in September. Am curious about your best meals - anything from dives to high end places. We are adventureous eaters! Also, I am trying to cordinate a day trip of wineries (with a driver of course) and would love to hear about places you loved, things I must try and even add to my cellar - if it even makes it home. THANKS!

Likewise my wife and I will be in both Croatia and Slovenia this fall. We are interested in winery's to visit and general wine tasting opportunities. Also, can you buy wine at the winery and enjoy it at local restaurants? Is there a corkage fee? Thanks, Larry, Ludington, MI USA 6/25/09

My husband and I were in Dubrovnik and Split last Sept. As to restaurants in both towns, the menue selections are almost identical ( including preparation) whether inexpensive or expensive. It is rather monotonous. In Split, Black Cat Bistro offers a welcomed eclectic menue. For a drink, not food, go to Buza when you are in Dubrovnik. It's perched out over the sea on a cliff. You get to it from inside the wall.
