We will be traveling to Croatia in July 2014. We will take a ferry from Venice to Pula where we will rent a car. We want to see the Plitvice Lakes and Dubrovnik, and will end in Split for a sailing trip. Does anyone have a good itinerary for our road trip?

Judy: I am going to suggest you go to rome2rio.com and use their tools to plot an itinerary. To get to Dubrovnik from almost anywhere you will need to drive along the coast. You might consider driving the car from Pula to Plitvice (3 1/2 - 4 hrs) and then to Split (3- 3/12 hrs) (drop car there), then take a bus from Split to Dubrovnik and back. At least you would be able to enjoy the scenery while on the bus. Bus takes about 4 1/2 hrs. NOTE: There are two bus routes, one along the coast and one that goes through Bosnia-Herzegovina. I would recommend the coastal route. You don't say how much time you have so bear in mind travelling time whether you are driving or taking a bus. Happy Travels!

Even with the coastal route, you will have to pass through a sliver of Bosnia-Herzegovina coastline at Neum. We stopped there for a break on our bus trip. The bus is a very inexpensive way to get around and they run all the time between Split and Dubrovnik.
