Croatia and Slovenia: Best Two-Week Trip by Car

Hello, My friend and I will be doing Rick's two-week trip through Slovenia and Croatia but starting in Zagreb. We will be following it very closely and choosing to go to Hvar. I wanted to hear if anyone had an tips they learned doing this and also any recommendations of places they enjoyed staying at in the following towns: Zagreb, Lake Bled, Ljubljana, Rovinj, Plitvice, Split, Hvar, Dubrovnik. We are open to any kind of accommodations but need somewhere we can park the car while we have it. First question: For people who have followed this trip. Where did you return the rental car in Split? Did you have to go to the airport or were their places to drop it in town. Which rental company did you use? Second question: We arrive in Dubrovnik on Thursday from Hvar and we fly out Saturday late afternoon. With only 3 days and 2 nights in Dubrovnik should we take the side-trip to Mostar or would we miss out on things in Dubrovnik. Thanks in advance! We are really looking forward to this trip.

One full day in Dubrovnik was enough for us - we spent a day in Kotor and were very glad we did. We also preferred Korcula over Hvar (we found Hvar to be a bit full of itself, Korcula seemed less pretentious).

We were traveling with 5 adults. So at Plitvice, we stayed in a house that we found online. It was very nice, about 3 K from the park, and about 125 E for the 5 of us. Look online for local houses if you are more than 2 - for 2 this would be too much. We got to the park at 8 - park opened at 8:30. We did not take the tram to the top, but walked to the top and took the bus down. Very pleasant. We got there on Croatian National Day and it was crowded.

Make sure to schedule 2 days in Ljubljana, maybe 3 if you go to Bled. We did not schedule enough time there. We went to Split, where we could have spent less time. We spent a day and a half. We did not go to Dubrovnik or further south.
