Corinth, Greece

My husband and I will be taking an Athens & the Heart of Greece in 14 Days tour. We want to tack on a couple extra days. The tour doesn't visit and Rick's book doesn't mention Corinth at all even although it is fairly close to Athens. Is it worth a side-trip? If so, can you suggest an itinerary/tour company?

Dan

The town of Corinth itself is pretty unexciting.

On the other hand the sites of Roman Corinth and Acrocorinth, which is the fortress above it, are both excellent and well worth a visit. From the top of Acrocorinth, as long as you don't mind an uphill walk, you can see both ends of the canal.

We did both of these in a long morning, coming out from Corinth by local bus and then getting a taxi up from the Roman site to Acrocorinth, and walking back down to the bus stop.

With a car you could use the other day to do a round trip of Mycenae, Nafplio for lunch, and Epidavrus. If you are relying on local buses then you would probably have to choose one of these.

Do you know that there is a train from Corinth direct to the airport? It takes less than an hour and means it isn't necessary to go back into Athens.

Cheers
Alan

Great! Thanks for the quick response Alan. We're adding Corinth to our trip.
