This site has helped me a lot as I'm planning. Thanks to all the contributors. My wife and I plan to spend 16 days in Greece in late September/early October for our 30th wedding anniversary. After a week on Santorini, we will fly to Corfu for 6 days before wrapping up in Athens for 2 days. On Corfu we'd like to stay in a quiet hotel away from nightlife and crowds of tourists, and preferably with a water view. We usually find the ordinary activities of local life more interesting to us than contrived tourist experiences, but we do plan to see some of the major tourist sites briefly. Based on advice here on the site, we plan to rent a car a couple of days to see the interior of the island.
Where would be the best base for our stay? We'd like to spend 90-120 euros/day for a place where we could prepare simple meals from food purchased in local markets as well as dine in local restaurants. I'd appreciate suggestions about romantic restaurants where we can celebrate our anniversary.
