Conference in Prague

My husband and I plan to travel to Prague in July, where I'll participate in a conference. Best Western Meteor is the recommended conference hotel. My questions:

What should my husband see in the area while I'm conferencing?

We'd like to take 2-3 days pre- and post-conference to see 1-2 other cities. Where should we go, and how do we get there?

From the U.S., what city should we fly to? Is open-jaw better (to do some sight-seeing post-conference), or is it better to fly into and out of the same city?

We've been to conferences in London and Paris, but didn't have the time to do pre- and/or post-conference traveling. If we have a chance to travel more this time, we'd like to spend our time and money wisely.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Suggest you check out www.airberlin.com--you can fly round trip from JFK to Southern Germany in May for 284 Euros and train to Prague. You can build an itinerary around them, and believe, me, they are Punctual and realiable and you can do open jaws easily on their website. Personally, I would fly back using them out of Krakow.

Open-jaw is best.

I would highly recommend both Budapest and Krakow and it would be possible to do each of these before and after your Prague trip if you had 3 days for each.

I would recommend finding out country holidays and museum/site closures to determine which cities to visit.
