Concert & ballet tickets for Moscow & St Petersburg

I would like to purchase in advance tickets to at least one concert and a ballet in Moscow and/or St Petersburg. Any recommedations as to websites I could/should use? Is there a specific company or orchestra that I should particularly keep an eye out for?? I am very much hoping to catch something at the Bolshoi and/or the Kirov, if I can ;-)
Anything else that I should keep my eye out for - circus, puppet theatre, animals shows, etc.? Thanks!

The best way to guarantee a seat would be to order from the official websites. By the way, the "Kirov" reverted to it´s pre-Soviet name in 1992, the Mariinsky theater. If you can´t get tickets to the Mariinsky (a possibility if a new performance opens while you´re there), there´s also the cheaper option of the Mussorgsky theater. It´s not in the same class as the Mariinsky, but they mostly specialize in Russian opera, which you´ll rarely see performed outside of the country. In one week in St. Petersburg, I had the opportunity to see"Boris Godinov" and "Prince Igor" at the Mussorgsky, and "I Pagliacci" at the Mariinsky. If I had stayed a week longer, I could have seen"Yevgeny Onegin" as well.

Tom, I was able to order online for next April at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg - there weren't many seats left even this early!! I will be seeing Pétrouchka/The Firebird & Swan Lake - I'm thrilled! I'll also check out your other recommendation - so many thanks! BTW - how dressed down can I get away with? Black pants & sweater?

Wear what you find comfortable. You'll see everything from people in their finest evening wear to students in jeans.
