Classical Concerts in Prague

Has anyone been to classical concerts in Prague specifically concerts in St. Nicolas Church and Dinner and Mozart? Would appreciate info. Also info on where to get tickets for these venues. Thanks!

I think in a forum like this that it's important to be positive. Everyone has their own particular tastes and interests and what one finds as a place of a life time others may have some disdain for. I have to remind myself of this fact as well. So, with that in mind: If you are going to be in Prague and seeing a classical performance of some sort is a must, just to have the experience, then go where you can. Don't worry too much about it and I am certain you will enjoy it. You might choose based on the venue. Some are absolutely stunning and in that way you get to hear some good music and see some great architecture at the same time. If the event is heavily marketed in towards the tourists then you can count on it being a little more relaxed in most aspects. If you are looking for the absolute best quality performance you should follow the performers and not the venue. For concerts it's probably the Czech National Symphony Orchestra http://www.cnso.cz/EN/concerts.html which plays most often in the Municipal House. For Opera and Ballet it's probably the National Theater Company http://www.narodni-divadlo.cz/en/about-us . These companies will cost a little more but this is the class of entertainment you think of when you think of central European high arts. Another benefit from my point of view is that while there will be tourists at every performance there will be fewer at these performances. You will actually get to rub shoulders with Czechs and Europeans who enjoy the high arts as opposed to Bubba and the screaming kids from Podunk. Even the best seats are only about $50 so splurge and have an evening befitting you. Please dress appropriately as you represent us all.

Thanks James for the info! In addition to the classical concerts I also see "Il Divo" is having a concert in Prague while we are there! Oh, but wait...it will soon be on PBS! Anyway, thanks and Gig 'Em Aggies!
