We will be traveling to Turkey in July. We are flying in to Izmir and will be staying 3 nights in Selcuk for Ephesus etc. We were thinking of taking a ferry to Chios island for 3 nights.
I have 2 questions: Is the Turkish visa which will be given at Izmir airport cover multiple entries as we plan on coming back to Cesme and continuing with the rest of our Turkey trip. I cannot find info on it. Is it necessary to rent a car on Chios or can the medieval villages and Nea Moni monastery be done by bus. I have a pdf file with the transport lines and it seems doable. But I would like to know if any one has done so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The new (since Feb. 2012) Turkish visa stamp is issued upon entry at the airport but you must ask for it specifically for multiple entries. You can come and go within that time period without any problem.
