Chania Airport--late night arrival

Has anyone else arrived late at night to the Chania, Crete airport? Our Ryan Air flight gets in at 21:50, and according to the bus schedules I've seen, the last bus to the city center leaves an hour before that.
Are there any decent sleeping options near the airport so we can avoid having to take a taxi? If we have to take a taxi into Chania town, how much should we expect to pay? Thanks in advance!

21:50 isn't late in Greece. I'm sure you will find others who will be willing to share the cost of a taxi into town with you since you'll all be in the same situation. Sorry, I don't know the fare but it seems to me it would be worth paying for it to reach your final destination. Were you expecting to find a bus the next morning? That might not always be possible.

There aren't any hotels in the vicinity, it's a very small airport. It's only a 15-20 min drive into Chania from the airport though. I wouldn't expect to pay more than about 20 euros for the taxi into town.

The posting above is correct. The cab was in the 20-25 euros range and there are no hotels near the airport. A word of advice.....if you're staying at a smaller B&B or hotel, make sure you've got very clear directions. Some of the smaller establishments are not well known to the cab drivers and you might have difficulty reaching your destination at that time of night. A map of Chania with your destination indicated could be a big help.

the cabs are very honest at least from my experience, so you can just grab one to downtown. i found people on the island is trustworthy, and it's safe well after dark.
