I am really wanting to see Cesky Krumlov and am wondering if this plan is too crazy. Leave Prague early Sat morning after RS tour of Prague on either a bus or train-about 4 hours to CK. Stay overnight in CK and travel back to Prague Sun night. Fly out of Prague 0700 Mon morning. This will be the end of my trip after traveling over 3 weeks in Europe. My other option is to see the Terezin concentration camp on Sat and fly out Sunday. I don't think I can do CK in one day. Don't know when I will be back to Czech Republic, so I am trying to fit as much as possible in. Am I crazy?

CK is a charming little town with a great castle furnished essentially with period furnishing. Highly recommend staying at the Penzion Onyx with Peter Saxon (a Brit). Also, it's close to the train station. Svetlava is a great restaurant for dinner but get there early. Good luck.

Cesky Krumlov is a small but wonderful town. While you'll want to linger, you can easily see everything in a 24 hour visit. You might want to confirm Sunday bus/train schedules before you decide. Be sure to talk to your RS guide about your post-tour plans. They'll be happy to help you with transportation options to either Cesky Krumlov or Terezin.

It is possible. I would suggest you print the train schedule/timetables and be prepared to leave immediately after the tour. It is a small and wonderful town. Don't miss it. One of my favorite in CR.

I just noticed that the site is not as user friendly as it was a few months ago.
I believe you take the train from Prague to Ceske Budejovice and take a bus from there to Cesky Krumlov which is only a few minutes away. We took a bus which was about as fast as the train in 2005.

Thank you for your replies and suggestions. Booked my plane ticket and I am definitely giving myself the extra day to go to Cesky Krumlov Sat/Sun. I did check out the train schedules and there are trains at least 4/day...need to check into the bus schedule as Rick says it is faster? If I time it right, I can have a little over 24 hours in CK. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'd recommend the bus. It is quicker and the bus station is closer to the town.
One tip, see if it's possible to get the bus from Angel (which is on the metro) in Prague rather than the main bus station. We made the mistake of getting it from the main station and the first hour of the journey was wending our way through Prague traffic to get to Angel.

Just watch your back and belongings at the train station or bus station.
BTW, we took the bus.
