Any good lodging ideas for a family of 4 traveling to Cesky Krumlov for 1 night in August (high season)? (There are so many options, I am overwhelmed and need help narrowing the list.) Also, should we pre-book or wait to see what we find when we get there? I've read from some posts that the internet rate is much higher than the "in person" rate.
Stay where Rick Steves stayed - the Castle View apartments. We did, and they were great. We even got Rick's room.
We stayed at the excellent Pension Sebastian and it was a ten minute walk from the old town. We paid 39Euro for two including breakfast. The owner speaks perfect English, has a shuttle van and will pick you up at no charge from the bus depot or train station. We also used his shuttle to Vienna which was much easier than messing about with trains and didnt cost any more than the train. We booked and paid over the internet with a ten per cent down payment and 1.50 Euro booking fee.
I second the vote for Castle View Apartments. It was the best place we stayed on a 9 city tour this last fall. Really lovely.
Castle View is the favorite. We stayed at The Old Inn which is right on the square. We were very pleased with it. Whatever you pick, for August I would book as soon as possible.
I vote for Castle View Apartments and book ahead.
