Cesky Krumlov - eating and sleeping

Having seen people's comments here we've finally decided to definitely overnight in Cesky Krumlov when we are next in Prague (in May.)

Any suggestions for moderate hotels or eating places gratefully received. We're currently thinking of staying at the Pension Mysi Dira. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Alan

We stayed with Peter Saxon at his Penzion Onyx. www.penziononyx.cz Charming, remodeled (modern), reasonably priced and good info from Peter. (Brit married to a CZ.) Have dinner at Svatlava (sp?) or Svat Lava, or whatever...the cave. Make a reservation, tho. Ate there one night, went back the next and couldn't get in.

Almost need a full day to visit the castle and town. Castle: best we've seen in Europe.

Thanks for the response. It looks a great place, but may be a little more expensive than we want at the moment. Because we only plan to spend the one night there - the friend I'm visiting in Prague has to work - we'll probably go for somewhere more 'cheap and cheerful'.

I've bookmarked your suggestion, in case we go back for a longer trip.

Thanks again

It was your post on beer that decided us on a night in Cesky Krumlov in the first place, but thanks for reminding me of it again.

We've now definitely booked the Mysi Dira which looks reasonably basic but I'm sure will be fine for one night. Details here if anyone interested

Thanks again

Stayed for a couple nights at one Pension then moved to Hostel 99--Bar none the best and CHEAP everything. Beer, food, lodging--we got a room across the street from the main place and it was amazing. HUGE--, right on the river, very clean and although we shared the bathroom with one other couple we never heard or saw them. We are 40 and 38 and met all kinds and ages of travelers here and the owner is v knowledgeable and charismatic.
