We recently returned from a wonderful trip to Turkey. As there is not much info posted on things to see in Cappodocia I thought I'd post info about 2 different day-trip loops that we took using Urgup as a base--though you could start the loop from any city. We hired a taxi for $80.00 per day to make this trip. This is day 1:
Devrent Valley--Also known as "Imagination Valley" because of surreal-looking landscape.
Zelve Open Air Museum--An example of a traditional rock village.
Pashabagi--Famous for it's three-headed fairy chimneys.
Cavusin Castle--A spectacular rock castle that once housed everyone in the village.
Goreme Open Air Museum--Home of the world's most famous Byzantine cave churches.
Esentepe Panorama--Provides a complete view of Goreme valley.
Uchisar Castle Rockscape--This tall rock, is the highest point of the Goreme region--climb to the top for a great view.
Pigeon Valley Viewpoint--It's named for number of dovecotes carved out of the rocks.
