Cappadocia tour

Hi,
I will be traveling to Istanbul in early October. The 3 friends I'm with have no interest in Cappadocia. Does anyone know of a 2 or 3-day tour I can take? I'd rather not rent a car since I'll be traveling alone. Also, any recommendations on which airline to fly to Kayseri? Thanks.

My favorite tour from Istanbul was the day-trip to Troy, on the north-western coast of Turkey. It's amazing if you enjoy archaeological sites. Also, Gallipoli is right across the Hellespont/Dardanelles so you can stop by there and see the WWI memorial.

A great 2 day tour would be Ephesus on the western coast of central Turkey, which of course has the ancient library and a theatre. You could also go the other way (east) and visit Hattusa, the capital city of the ancient Hittites.

I don't know why your friends have no interest in Cappadocia. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth! If you enjoy natural beauty, you must do Ihlara valley, which is one of my top three favorite places in the world. The airline we used from Istanbul to Kayseri was Turkish Airlines. To me all airlines are the same, although we did have kind of a rough landing. Have fun! Turkey is oustanding!

I took a tour early September from a tour company in Urgup (smaller town in Cappadocia). Agra tours, www.agratravel.com agra@agratravel.com. There are many, many tour groups in Turkey, and all seem to be licensed. The easiest way to find a tour is to ask your hotel in Istanbul (if that is your first stop). They can arrange bus tickets, hotels. I recommend a hot air balloon ride (about $200 USD). It is a fantastic once in a life time event. the tour company can set it up. BTW, they start at 5 AM. If you only do one tour, make sure it has the Open Air Museum (Goreme). The tours include pottery, onyz or other craft demonstrations, which includes a sale pitch. I think this is how they make their money. All tours pick you up at your hotel.

Hi Gloria, DH & I took a tour with FLO-USA in March. It was glorious, and Cappadocia is so amazing. They are Turks and know their stuff. I'm a travel agent and can highly recommend them. They will also design custom tours for you if you like. Their website is www.flo-usa.com
