Cappadocia Hotels & Restaurants

In Cappadocia, is it better to stay in Urgup or Goreme? We will be there the first week in September, so do we need AC? Are the cave hotels nice, and are they cool? Do the cave hotel rooms feel claustrophobic with no windows? I would appreciate hotel and restaurant suggestions for the area.

We stayed at Cappadocia estates. A beautiful property, I believe it is considered a cave-type hotel w/ little windows. I did not feel claustrophoic but if you are in gen best stay away. We loved it ther ehowever the breakfasts while nicely presented an elegant were mostly beverages, breads w/ many spreads, meats, coffee and an occassional egg dish.

We stayed at the Yunak Evleri cave hotel. Very upscale, huge rooms and gigantic bathroom (we may have booked a suite because we had our two kids). Price was not too bad. Never felt claustrophobic at all! One of the coolest places I've stayed...very unique, excellent customer service too!

We had a cave room in the Kelebek in Goreme. It was fabulous and did not feel claustrophobic in any way. They have a lovely swimming pool for cooling off after a day of walking and they can hook you up with Butterfly Balloons who provide an outstanding service. And if you enjoy a good Turkish bath, the spa is wonderful. As for eating, the best meal we had in a month long journey in Greece and Turkey was in Mustafapasa at the Old Greek House. Beautifully restored building, family run, and superb cooking. With no menu, they brought us course after course of sumptuous food, and when the bill arrived we were stunned at how inexpensive it was. We also enjoyed the Local Restaurant in Goreme with fine food and decent prices. Paul
