Can someone please recommend a good half-day city tour of Athens?

Aloha from Maui-We will be in Athens in late May and are interested in taking a half-day city tour. We would love it if anyone could recommend a good tour company. Thanks!

Do you want bus or walking? We had a half day tour with Athens Walking Tour which was terrific. Small group, great guide.

Thanks so much for the recommendation but I think we'd like to take a bus tour to cover more ground b/c we'll only be there for two nights...unless everything worth seeing is just in the Acropolis area.

I agree with the Athens Walking Tour... Tour #1 I believe does the Acropollis & Agora and some other sites, 9:30 1pm ... THey have licensed guides who are very well-educated in history, art, archeology, and can give you appreciation of what you are seeing. It is best to sign up online, if you are getting off a cruise (I'm just guessing; you don't give clues).

Afterwards you can go to the New Acropolis Museum nearby, (again, it may be well to sign up online, if you want a particular time -- at present the interest is so high that they limit the number of people admitted per hour). Or, you may simply wander through the lanes of the attractive mostly-no-cars Plaka District, seeing other landmarks sites as you go.

A bus tour is a waste of time... you will sit in traffic and see nothing. Athens is not like London or Paris, with notable sites scattered all over town, which you can easily see from a bus. All the ancient sites are within a couple of square miles, cannot be appreciated through a bus window, and are easily walked to. Please go to a major bookstore and browse through some guidebooks... I think there are some that depict "10 top sights of Athens". Then Google the sites, or check WIkipedia.
