Can anyone recommend a 3 Star Hotel in Mykonos Town?

I would like to be able to book ahead into a good 3 star hotel in the town of Mykonos, somewhere quiet but close to the cafes and shopping. Anyone recommend something they enjoyed. Thanks from Canada.

Greetings from Germany! I am heading to Mykonos next Wed and will stay there up till 2 weeks, and I am in the midst of trying to find cheap accommodations. Would you be interested in sharing a room for a few days if the rates are too expensive individually? At the moment I am looking into some cool hostels and rooms. You interested? When will you be in Mykonos?

Hi Kim,

Sorry, we won't be travelling for several months to Mykonos and also travelling with 2 other couples.
But to pass on our experiences with hostels, my husband and I stayed abroad for 4 weeks using the hostels. We used the HI network of hostels and highly recommend them, cheap, clean, and friendly. Consider HI when you can, you won't be disappointed.

Cheers !

Please explain the HI hostels. What are they and how do you find them? Thanks!

Thank you! Are hostels pretty much bare-bones accomodations these days? I have not stayed in one since my 20's. I have to ask:
Do they still have bathrooms down the hall? Or do these HI (or other hostel chains) have private bathrooms? I'm now in my 50's and have to get up several times during the night: I'm not sure I can handle stumbling down a hallway these days.

Sorry to horn in on your thread, Shelly. Just had to ask since the topic came up and I have been wondering who to ask.

no Problem Linnea. we too are in our 50's but the getting up in the night is not a problem for us so far. and yes the bathroom is typically still down the hall, but a lot of them have private rooms for couples now, which is nice but that doesnt' include the bathroom. many rooms are smaller, 2-4 people, not so dormish. the HI hostels seem to cater to families and we encountered a wide range of ages which we liked. breakfast was always interesting, lots of people to share travel experiences with.
i really can't say enough nice things about them, we used them all over france, england, scotland and italy. good luck with your decisions...
