Hello, My husband and I are planning to visit France for our first time in September (for one month) We will be bringing our tent. I haven't done lots of research yet but we will start in Paris and end up in Nice. We are interested in seeing all the castles that are still intact, museums, etc. If you've stayed at a camp sight and recommend it, we'd love to hear from you. We thought Sept. would be a good month to avoid mosquitoes and line-ups. Thank you.

Maggie That's a pretty tall order. Wow! How many is "all" the castles? What do you mean by "castle"? There are, I believe, over 300 chateaux in the Loire Vallay, and over 1000 in the Dordogne, let alone the rest of the country. Even moving at a fast clip you will be hard pressed to get all that done in 30 days. Are you aware that France is roughly the same size as Texas? Could you narrow it down a tad? I realize that you are starting in Paris and ending in Nice. Do you really want to go all round France on the way, or do you actually want to go pretty much straight, thereby hugely reducing the number of castles. If you wanted to veer just out of France to see some wildly romantic yet ruined (and at lest one very lived in one - Burg Eltz) castles you could venture down the Mosel and Rhine rivers in Germany and Luxembourg. Help us help you.
