Camel rides in Western Turkey

Are there any camels you can ride in Ephesus or Kusadasi?

Once you hit town, ask someone where you can go to ride a camel. There are probably scores of them waiting for you.

I don't recall camel rides in Ephesus, but you will definitely find them in Kusadasi or in Bodrum. They're a common tourist activity in the caravanserai areas of Anatolia too. They are a classic tourist ripoff often times. Make sure you negotiate a firm price in advance. Keep in mind that there is a charge for photographing the camels, another charge for a picture sitting on a camel, and a third price for a short ride on a lead. Haggle aggressively--start with the price in euros, cut it in thirds and change it to lira. So if they ask for 30 euros, laugh and counter with 10 lira.

Frankly camels are uncomfortable and smelly. I'd ride one near the pyramids just for the iconic photo, but I wouldn't bother in Turkey myself.
