Bus Systems in Greece?

Does anyone know a good website i could look at to find timetables and prices for a bus from Athens to Patras? Does such a system exist? Any advice would be helpful

Katherine

KTEL, who actually run the buses, have taken down their online timetable because people are 'abusing' them! My guess is this means people are using the information commercially, but it still seems a flimsy excuse.

Anyway, the result is that everything I know is third party and runs the risk of being slightly out of date.

This would be my best suggestion for Patras

Given they are so frequent even if it is slightly out of date you should be OK.

Katherine, at least 4 of the ferry companies provide a bus for the trip to Patras. You can check them out here:

Look at Anek Lines, Minoan Lines, Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries.

For the purpose of planning, Lonely Planet or other guides can give ballpark figures, but buses and trains in Greece are cheap, probably no more than $20 maybe up to $30 for that route and a few hours. There are multiple trains and many more KTEL and private buses that do that route as well. I suspect that KTEL buses probably leave Athens for Patras almost hourly.

Ditto for information on timetables and connections from Athens to Delphi, Kalambaka and Nafplion? I had the same experience with the KTEL website, so I suspect I will have to wait until I get to Athens and then plan much of my trip on the fly.

Has anybody thought to Google KTEL Bus schedules or Athens long distance bus schedules??? Google is the answer friends, never say never unless yo have tried google.

Here is the link for the Kifissou St. Bus Terminal (KTEL Terminal A) with schedules for Peloponnese and Attika:
http://www.athensguide.com/practicalinfo/busschedulesA.htm

Here is the link for the Liossion Bus Terminal (KTEL Terminal B) for The North & east (including delphi & trikala/meteora)
http://www.athensguide.com/practicalinfo/busschedulesB.htm

These schedules give prices, departure & return times & duration of trip.
To get to these stations from the Plaka district I recommend you take a taxi since the local bus can be confusing. If you are going to either bus station direct from the Airport you can take xpress bus X93 ... see details at top of each timetable. If you are going from Piraeus port to either station , alas I have not been able to find a direct bus --- a taxi to KIfissou cost me about 12€

We will be traveling to Greece in a week. I have looked all over the internet and can not find bus schedules for PATRAS to DELPHI. I read there are only 1 or 2 buses for this trip. Can someone please help? I am also interested in knowing what stops are made between Patras and Delphi.

Thank you

April,
I found a bus schedule for busses out of athens. You may have to go from Delphi to Athens then Patras but no fear because there are many busses all day everyday to both those places. Here is the link to the website i found. Also, if you can't find it online, you might just have to wait till you get there, there is a lot that is hard to find on line but easy to find once you are there

Thanks Katherine, I gave her that link 2 weeks ago... yes it is from a 3rd party, but I have found it reliable over the years.
