Bus or Train from Patras to Athens?

We're travelling by ferry from Bari into Patras. Then we need to get to Athens. Has anyone had experience with trains vs. bus? In relationship to the ferry port, where is the bus station? And the train station? Which is easier to navigate? Where can I obtain bus schedule information? Thanx!

Thats a pretty popular route, so you really have 3 options. Standard KTEL bus, just make sure you get an express bus as opposed to a local route. KTEL used to have a website, but they had troubles with it and took it down. I am sure buses run almost hourly, and can't recall exactly where the bus station is, but it was a short walk from the pier.
Another option is private firms that offer express buses, don't know much about them, but if it looks good and the price is right. I would look hard at the train. Previously train service in Greece was minimal, but now they have upgraded, modern lines between Patras and Athens, and on to Thessoloniki. You also avoid Athens traffic, and they drop you off where you get on the Metro, try www.ose.gr for info
