Budapest - weather

We have a choice of going to Budapest in early May or late September. Which would be the better time?

This site http://www.wunderground.com/tripplanner/index.asp will give you the last 15 yrs of weather in Budapest in early May and late September. How to do it: go to the site, input the location, then for dates/time span, input (just an example) May 1 - 10 for early May (or whatever your dates are), Sept 20 - 30 for late Sept. This will give you the most reliable information relating to your question, although YRMD (obviously, the weather in any one year may differ from the historical averages, it's just a question of by how much).

You're very welcome, glad to help. That site is the most recommended weather site on this board, for weather other than short-term forecasts.

I LOVE Wunderground!!! I was on there earlier today. I pick a date during the time that we'll be there and look at the last 5 years to get an idea what's typical...

Well, I could tell you that the weather was beautiful (crisp, but sunny the whole time) when I was there in early October last year. However, my boss went there in early September of the same year and said it rained the whole time. Weather is probably one of the only areas of travel advice that doesn't benefit much from personal experience.

We were there in late Sept a few years ago and the weather was beautiful. It's the luck of the draw.

I think the best month to visit Europe is September, except in a very Mediterranean Cities, the citys are very hot. But the Continental Europe very nice.

I visited Budapest September 21--26, 2010; every day was warm and sunny. Light rain fell after dinner on the evening of the 25th, but my brief experience under the rain was not nearly as upsetting as it may have been to the well-dressed people leaving the opera house!

Just a heads up. We returned from Budapest this week and the temperatures were in the 90s. Granted, that's an aboration but don't ever plan on average temperatures. We did and packed too many warm weather clothes.
