Budapest Sleeping and sights: train to Prague

I am flying into Budapest for a short two days before meeting the RS tour in Prague. Any ideas for hotels central to main sights? REALLY must dos? The train to Prague eats up MUCH time. Any alternative suggestions?
Many thanks

Dont know when you are travelling so dont know the fares but you could try Air Berlin and fly from Budapest to Dresden and then its only about 3 hours by train to Prague.

Thanks for all your ideas. I proibably will fly Budapest to Prague although the least expensive is about $300 but worth the time savings.Another option may be finding others to share the cost of Mike the Chauffeur who will make a stop at Chesky Krumlov. Anyone need to go from Budapest to Prague on May 24??

With Regards To Where to Stay:

I personally liked staying on the Pest side of the Danube as I felt that more was going on over there. Looking back at it I would try to stay near Andrassy St/Oktogon/Opera.

I stayed at a B+B near the Jewish Synogague called Danube Guest House - Bob and Zoli are fantastic hosts and are able to guide you. The location on that was pretty good as well as it was a quick walk to Deac Ferenc Ter (Where all three metro lines come together).

In terms of what to see:

Go up to Castle Hill for a great view
Take a soak in one of the Spa's. Lots of debate as to which is best
Go along the danube
Visit Parliament
By all means take in an opera if you can. For the price of a McDonalds meal you can sit in the balcony
