Is it worth traveling from budapest or bratislava to krakow for one or two days there? And, if so, which might be the better city to travel from and by what means of transportation? There seems to be a night train from budapest; is there one from bratislava as well? Thanks

The night train from Budapest goes via Bratislava so you can get on there, too. IMHO anything less than 2 full days in Krakow is not worth traveling that relatively long distance.

Take the night train from Budapest and skip Bratislava if it means and extra day in Krakow. Krakow for only a day or even 2 is not enough. For 2 of us the train and compartment was about $240 a year ago. So it was less than $100 more than what we were paying for our Budapest hotel. Bratislava was a nice over night, but Krakow was an experience you don't want to short change.
