The Kempinski Hotel at Erzsebet ter is a multi star hotel with very good services; it's right at the Deak ter metro stop (a major transfer point for metro lines). Erzsebet ter and Deak ter seem to occupy the same city block; the distinction eludes me--must be historical. One block up is Andrassy ut, a major, grand boulevard that has the opera and several restaurants.

Consider the K&K Opera Hotel. It is just around the corner from the opera house and on one of the tube lines - the same line that runs on out to the baths. It is comfortable, has free computer access, and an excellent breakfast.

Also consider Hotel Pest near the opera.Very easy to get to by metro from Keleti. Sometimes they have some good internet deals. Check them out on Tripadvisor.

Kalvin House in Pest is a winner. We stayed here last May and thought it was great. Also check on booking.com for business class hotels at a reasonable price.

Hi, Oh my goodness. Those places recommended run about 100 Euros a night for two people. Too bad the Radio Inn isn't still open. It all depends on how adventurous you are. Have you looked at the Hotel Astoria? That should be more like 50-60 Euros. It is a classic art deco building with inexpensive noon meals. Or book an apartment near a metro stop in the heart of Pest. They do exist. I have not used them because I did the Radio Inn. Do some shopping. We always did an apartment so we could "cook" if we wanted. One of the joys of Budapest is their markets. And having a kitchen allows you to actually buy real things and take them home and eat them. So keep looking. 100 Euros a night is for those looking for a Holiday Inn away from home. If that is the case, I say, "stay home". wayne iNWI

We rented a 2 bedroom apartment from "Budapesting" three years ago. It was well located and while the decor was "ikea", it was great to have room to spread out and wash our clothes! We didn't use the kitchen for more than snacks and drinks because the food in Budapest was so good and so reasonable compared to the rest of Western Europe. We liked being able to spread out over 3 rooms for a change from the rest of the trip and it was not expensive for the comfort. It WAS very helpful to have a GPS to find our way there driving from Prague.

If you are looking for budget accommodations, I stayed at the Easy Hotel and it was around 20 euros/night. You have to pay extra to use the TV/get housekeeping and all the extras and the rooms were small. But I was hardly there, the hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful. It was around the corner from the Terror Museum and was walking distance to most sights. It was also very close to a metro stop.
