can anyone recommend a private guide for touring Budapest? Unfortunately, the guides in the Rick Steves guides are not available.

I have used the guy http://www.guideinbudapest.com/ as well. He was good, though I can not judge myself. I booked him for couple of travelers that used our transportation services between Prague and Budapest.

We are frequent travelers to Budapest and we used the services of Budapesting, we did all the 3 tours they do out of Budapest: http://budapesting.com/tours
I can highly recommend them for their tours and for their accommodation options. It is very good value for money and they are an extremely nice and kind Hungarian family.
