Will chosentours have a tour of the Jewishsection of Budapest on Easter Sunday 2008?
We spent 2 weeks in Budapest in 2006. Our first week was spent in an apartment barely 100 ft from the Great Synagogue. While Budapest once had a thriving Jewish section, it no longer does. Few Jews remain in Hungary, tho there is no shortage of those whoo will readily blame Jews for all the ills of the place.
Budapest is a wonderful city and should not to be missed by anyone. Buda Castle, the Szechenyi Bridge and the Szechenyi Baths in the park, the Natioonal Museum and the Markets and so much more.
For what it's worth, Budapest actually has (currently) the second largest Jewish population in Europe and a thriving (though not necessarily observant) Jewish community. While there is about the same level of anti-semitism that can be found throughout Europe, the outraged response in Budapest to any public anti-semitic act is typically broad-based and immediate.
