Hi, We spent one week in Budapest with my girlfriend. Our budget was not huge for the accommodation, so we rent a room in an apartment in the city center for only 20 euros per night. We used in common the bathroom and the kitchen, and we only spent 10 euros per person, cheaper than a youth hostel. We can highly reccommend them.

I found out that they have some other flats too. Good, so you will save some money like this, and you can see more things, I suggest the gipsy folk concerts. They are amazing. Good vacantion for you.

There are many affordable flats in Budapest, especially this season you can get very good deals. I recommend to check out the site called FlipKey:

We stayed at the Astoria Residence, it was also very affordable - we paid 40US ppn.
