Budapest Baths

I have yet another Budapest inquiry! I am very much looking forward to visiting the baths in Budapest, which one would you recommend for a married couple who are not into big crowds and the touristy aspect of things? We want to be as the be!

I've only been to Szechenyi and Gellert, and Gellert was definitely the less crowded of the two. Of course, I went to Gellert on a cloudy afternoon that eventually turned into rain, while my Szechenyi outing was a beautiful, sunny, 78 degree day. Even on a crowded day, I still managed to have a great time at Szechenyi. The pools and locker rooms are big and cleaner than at Gellert. But there is an outdoor sauna at Gellert, which was pretty awesome too.
You'll have fun wherever you decide. I would probably bring my own towel wherever you go, as the towels there are not very absorbent and you must place a deposit on them.

Ah ha! You nailed me! In about a dozen years of traveling to Budapest I haven't yet been able to encourage my wife to walk into a bath house. In about 3 weeks that all changes. We will go to the Széchenyi Bath House because its reputation is that its easy for newbies to navigate, co-ed, extremely beautiful and in a very easy location to find. None of the bath houses are tourist traps. Possibly this one and Gellert and the most frequented by tourists but my impression is that the tourists will be in the miniority. I've got a sort of first time instruction sheet that i will post on my website. When i have it up I will let you know. Sorry I couldnt help you more on this one.
