Hi once again. We are going to Budapest in September. We are staying at the Central Hotel 21,Maria Street 10., 08. Józsefváros Budapest, 1085 Hungary. Does anyone know the best way to get to the hotel from the airport. Also tips on where to go eat and drink would be brill. Skoll.

Hi Janice, in July I took a "City Taxi" fixed price ride to the Budapest airport from the Marriott Hotel. It was about a thirty minute drive and cost about 25% less than what the fixed price Hotel cabs wanted. Remember to ask for the "fixed price" or your back into the bartering mode. You will see "City Taxies" all over town. Ask the driver for their color coded Fixed Price card so you will know in advance the fare. It's easy and takes all the guessing out of the process. Remember, there two terminals so know which one you are departing from. Have fun!

The train is not difficult, however, if you have considerable luggage or are not comfortable with public transport, then take the taxi.

Another option is to take the shuttle train from the airport Terminal 1 over to the Nyugati train station. From there, you can take 4/6 tram which stops just a couple of blocks away from your hotel. It will take longer, but is much cheaper. If time is of importance, go with the above poster's suggestion and take a cab!
