Buckwheat in Slovenia

I am traveling to Slovenia in the Fall and I have a severe buckwheat allergy. In Rick Steve's Slovenia food section he says, "Traditional Slovenia dishes are prepared with groats -- a grainy mush made with buckwheat, barley or corn. Buckwheat, which thrives in the climate, often appears on Slovenian menus." Obviously I'm going to avoid groats, but I wanted to see if anyone know other items found in Slovenia that are made with buckwheat. And if there is anyone that knows the word for buckwheat in Slovene, that would be very helpful. Thank you!

Given all the languages used in that area, I'd make a little card with the translation for more than one language on it - someone might not know the Slovene word but recognize it in Croatian. Google translate is handy for that purpose (translate.google.com) says buckwheat = ajda (Slovene), heljda (Croatian), pohanka (Czech, Slovak). I'd also do the same for groats and include the statement "I am allergic to..." That said, I didn't see any "grainy mush" items in Slovenia, but I was too busy eating cream cake. :)
