Bucharest to Brasov

Hi Guys! We have the Global pass but are considering not activating it until we leave Brasov so that the pass will get us through the end of our trip. With that being said, we are flying into Bucharest from Poland and then hopping the train to Brasov. Any idea how much it would cost to go from Bucharest to Brasov via train? Every site I've looked at only gives me times and not fares.

If you use average trains (InterRegio type) it costs 47 lei ($14) in second class or ~68 lei ($21) in first class.

WE took that train only going through Brasov. It is not expensive so you will be comfortably able to travel first class. I don't remember what we paid but it wasn't much. Those trains are not crowded, in my experience, so you can buy your ticket when you get to Bucharest. Write down where you want to go on a piece of paper to show the ticket window person. We did not find anyone in the Bucharest train station that spoke English. There were people on the platforms who were helpful though. The reader boards are easy to use too. I don't remember how long it took to get to Brasov, maybe four hours or so. You will want to take some food and drink.

in general romania's train is really cheap. i don't know how much you paid for the global pass but it's probably not worth to use it on these local trains.
