Does anyone know whether there are restrictions about bringing in dried fruit and nuts (a couple packages)to Turkey. We fly into Istanbul. I've tried to find the answer online and find all kinds of information about what's allowed in but find nothing about food products.
We did not have a problem entering Turkey with trail mix, but then again, we weren't inspected, nor did any customs official ask. Your best bet would be to bring a commercial mix, that is pre-packaged. This won't have any fresh fruit. It's fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat that customs officials are concerned with, since these can harbor insects and/or diseases.
I would be very surprised if anyone made an issue of something as harmless as trail mix.
Few countries maintain restrictions on packaged food... the US being one notable example, though.
I doubt there will be an issue ... however, Turkey has beautiful and delicious dried fruit and nuts ... so even if you have to dump the trail mix, you will find great snacks there.
the only restriction in EU are for liquids and prohibited items, not for food. US has a lot of restrictions on food brought from EU.
