Hi, How can I tell authentic"Bohemian glass" bought in Prague,or from that region? What do I look for that assures me it's not cheap imitation glass- say, "made in china"w/ a label switch that says"made in Czech R"?Any reputable store names in Prage,or vacinity that sell "Bohemian glass" for reasonable prices appreciated. thanks in advance.

According to Rick Steves' Prague 2005 Tour book:

Celetna Crystal (about midway down the street)offers the largest selection of affordable crystal. You can get the glass safely shpped home directly from the shop for purchases over 2,500 KC.

The Czech Republic takes great pride in the trademark "Bohemian crystal," which is closely monitored by the government. You find a little blue sticker on the bottom that says "Bohemian crystal, Czech Republic, 24% PbO" which means it is 24% lead crystal. I doubt if any store in the republic would try to fake it....they'd be tarred and feathered by their own people! I think you'd be safe in just about any shop that carries a wide selection of the products. If in doubt, flick the edge with your finger...the ring should tell you it's lead crystal, and not cheap glass.

Another vote for Celenta Glass. My wife made a large
purchase there on our last visit. It was shipped at
a reasonable cost from the store and made it home
before we did without a scratch.
